Trail of Hope, 2023
A river of butterflies carry hopes and dreams to the rainbow of heavens.
I wanted to create a scene that inspired a deep feeling of calm and hope. To me, butterflies symbolize this. They are peaceful messengers of healing and hope , and the beautiful world that waits for us to notice it.
I first created an airy background using inks and watercolors. Then I created the butterfly scene and added drips of paint and ink to give the feeling of an ascension. I added additional details and flowers.
May this scene remind you that there is always hope and always healing waiting to be nurtured. All we must do is choose it.
This very special piece was selected to be exhibited in the esteemed 2024 Bryn Du Art Show in Ohio.

About the. THETA COLLECTION
In a quiet forest in Southern Ohio, a creek whispers secrets to those who listen. Here, amidst the magic, each piece begins with drops of water, drawn from that creek. I have lots of stories about that creek (for another time), but it’s a special one.
After sprinkling or brushing the canvas with creek water, I will lay down leaves, flowers, twigs, and stones, or other treasures from my woodland wanderings. Following that, I sprinkle ink over this and allow these ephemeral elements to dry in place. Once dry, the natural materials are removed, and the canvas is transformed into a tapestry of soulful nature shapes, each a unique reflection of nature’s inspiration.
Breathing life into a dream, I let my imagination take hold and allow the shapes to inspire new scenes that evoke a sense of calm and tranquility. The result is a work of art that embodies the spirit of the woods and the prairies, a testament to the power of nature and the magic that weaves it all together.
