The Little Oak
The Little Oak is an original mixed media painting I created this year. A colorful oak stands majestically in a green field while the moon rises in a peach sky.
This piece has lots of beautiful shimmer and pastel earthy tones. It is a very soothing scene and a piece that will bring joy to any tree lover you know.
I made the frame out of a wooden canvas and burlap, for an earthy upcycled feel. I placed Plaster of Paris on top of the wood canvas and then applied layers of gesso. This gave it a very textured feel. Then I painted the scene that you see here. The frame is painted in a blend of shimmery copper and turquoise to give it a magical glow.
