ABOUT THE PIECE

This listing is for a print of my original collage painting "Madame Mushroom".

Here, the green fairy “Madame Mushroom” plays with moths while enjoying the shade from the mushroom cap. She tosses magical fairy dust out onto the forest floor and awakens the little mushrooms in the soil with her sweet smile.

I had a good collection of mushroom photographs I’d taken from over the years and I finally found a way to use them here. First, I digitally layered them to create the initial scene. Once complete, I printed that and used an image transfer to start the scene on the real canvas. From there, I layered on pages from favorite vintage books, cut yupo paper, paints, ink, watercolors, and finally real flowers and plants that I pressed this past summer. This print exudes all of the magic of the original piece.
